Pop Up Gig with “Where Water Meets”
Touring New Zealand for the first time, they are bringing music from their critically acclaimed first album River Islands, with songs and tunes inspired by the Tasmanian wilderness. They combine alternatively tuned guitars, violins and violas with ethereal vocals to create shimmering, visual worlds both Tasmanian and interstellar.
Where Water Meets have toured extensively around Tasmania and mainland Australia, presented by festivals including the National Folk Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival, MONA FOMA and Beaker Street Science Festival. They have been the recipients of multiple rounds of Arts Tasmania and Inspire Australia funding, and with this support have created and presented diverse work that engages with place, community, history and science. Their composition Brown Mountain won the 2019 Folk Federation of Tasmania’s tune writing award.
