Andy Bassett: The Orchid Thief – Live on Stage

Andy Bassett released his eighth solo album, The Orchid Thief, earlier this year. Forgoing the conventional guitar/bass/drums format in favour of strings and woodwinds, the album is an intimate affair, weaving tales of love and loss, theft and murder, life and death. war and peace, isolation and a baby blackbird into an unresolved mystery, set on the streets of London, New York, Berlin and New Plymouth.

Now he brings The Orchid Thief to the stage as a multi-media show, augmenting the music with visual effects, lighting, a mysterious detective, technical trickery and live orchids!

Backed by a chamber ensemble including members of the Taranaki Symphony Orchestra, pianist and co-arranger Jarrod Bakker, plus a special appearance by Northland singer Sheri O’Neill, The Orchid Thief is more than just a concert, it’s a feast for the senses.
