MARK LOCKETT

Top New Zealand drummer Mark Lockett is set to release his seventh album, ‘Swings and Roundabouts’. Recorded recently in New York, a chordless quartet also featuring top NY heavyweights David Binney, Duane Eubanks and Matt Penman. Masterful improvisations in a cutting-edge setting.

During lockdown Lockett penned nine original compositions inspired by his love of the past, jazz giant Ornette Coleman and drawing on the modern sound of his contemporaries.

Album will be released on 01 Feb 2023 and to celebrate Mark is embarking on a nine-concert nationwide tour.

Lockett has assembled a smok’n quartet for this outing which features:
Saxophonist Roger Manins
Trumpeter James Guilford
Bassist Daniel Yeabsley
and Lion-heart Lockett on drums
