Hamish Cameron (Solo)
“Born and raised in Whangārei, Hamish Cameron began making music at 10, playing trumpet in his grandfather’s municipal brass band. Music brought him to Ngāmotu, Taranaki about 25 years ago, after a tour mishap led him to his future wife’s home—where he has stayed ever since. Best known as a bass player supporting others’ projects, Hamish found new creative space during the pandemic. That period sparked his own songwriting voice and led to Strange Love, an album shaped by self-expression, trust, and collaboration. Produced and co-written with Rhythm Ace Studio’s Sam Johnson, it features rich contributions from local musicians.
