CIRCULAR ECONOMY MASTERCLASS OFFERS SOLUTIONS FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

Taranaki-based not-for-profit Rautāpatu Foundation is hosting a masterclass on utilising the principles of a circular economy to promote a more sustainable future. Co-Chairperson of the Foundation, Bry Kopu, says, “The masterclass will bring together individuals from a range of backgrounds to learn and collaborate on innovative solutions that will benefit communities and the environment.”

“A circular economy gives us the tools to tackle climate change and biodiversity loss together while addressing important social needs. It empowers us to grow prosperity, jobs, and resilience while cutting greenhouse gas emissions, waste, and pollution,” says Ms. Kopu.

This one-day event on 07 October 2024 in New Plymouth is designed to harness the power of circular thinking and drive impactful change in your local environment.

“We’re really excited to bring this kaupapa to Taranaki. These kinds of community-led workshops are happening across the world, and we’re seeing real benefits in places like the UK, California, and Denmark. It’s time for Aotearoa to tap into our strengths as a community and build a regenerative economy,” Bry says.

This event has been curated to jumpstart participants’ journey into circularity, meaning you can join even with zero prior knowledge. The event aims to ‘sow the seeds’ for what could be possible for:

  • Business Owners: Explore ways to implement sustainable practices in your operations.
  • Organisational and Community Leaders: Discover strategies to lead your community towards zero waste.
  • Individuals and Families: If you’re interested in a nature-positive economy, the sessions will provide foundational knowledge for effecting local change.

“On behalf of our Foundation, we warmly invite community members from all backgrounds to come together, learn, and collaborate on innovative solutions that will benefit their communities and our environment,” says Bry.
