Julie Lamb Outfit
JULIE LAMB OUTFIT BARMY JARMIES TOUR
THEM: An eight piece? On the road? Are y’all nuts!?
US: We-ell – yes… but a kick-arse funky pop sound NEEDS horns… and backing vocals… doesn’t it?
THEM: You could do it like The Clever People – with Synths and well, just less…
US: We-ell – ye-es… but we like each other… who would we leave behind? O_O … and we ARE clever, just not necessarily sensible.
SO: The Julie Lamb Outfit are taking their full eight-piece, kick-arse funky pop sound on the road.
They’re doing it to show off their 2020 album “How Humans Think” which debuted at 10 on the official NZ Album Charts, and received 5 stars… They are also celebrating the landmark of 5 studio albums and 50 original songs.
To appear more sensible, they are promoting this as a pyjama tour. The wearing of said pyjamas may or may not happen.
The eight date tour hits Wellington, Paekakariki, Masterton, Hastings, Auckland, Raglan, Whanganui, and New Plymouth. Several of these places are a first for the band, and “that’s exciting. Fresh starts, new friends, new venues. As a bonus in the new places – we’re running “pay what you want” gigs… SAY WUT?!?!
Existing friends say lovely things like this:
“Anyone who has seen the Wellington-based Julie Lamb Outfit live, knows they are as tightly woven as that machine knitted jumper your mum made for you in the 70s – and keep you feeling just as warm.”
CLAIRE SYMONDS, FREELANCE JOURNALIST
“It’s great to hear some funky pop-rock with good old fashioned backing vocals and horn parts too. A class act made all the better by the joi-de-vivre it encapsulates and projects.”
BING TURKBY, NZ MUSICIAN
