Folk @ The Fitz: The OK Boomers
Formed on Zoom during the 2020 Covid lockdown, The OK Boomers are a group of friends who combine harmony vocals with guitar, ukulele, banjo, bass, saxophone and percussion. This blend accidentally found popularity after their second gig, leading to performances at the Koru Project and the TSB Festival of Lights.
Despite the implications of the name, The OK Boomers play music not bound by genre or time – anything from from the 1930s to the 2020s, from George Michael to Jenny Mitchell.
Due to recovering from recent surgery, saxophonist Peter Hickey is having to sit this one out. In his place will be the ever-versatile Ken Kowalchuk, who stood in for Tony Hansen at the band’s last gig.
The OK Boomers line-up for Folk @ The Fitz on 26th November is:
Bev Tatham – vocals & ukulele
Andy Bassett – vocals, guitar & bass
Tony Hansen – vocals, ukulele & banjo
Ken Kowalchuk – vocals, bass, ukulele & harmonica
Damian Gilmour – percussion
Damian is too young to be a Boomer but we can assure you he is OK.
As usual with guest performers at Folk @ The Fitz, the first half of the afternoon will feature invited floor singers. The OK Boomers will perform the entire second half.
Entry $10 on the door.
