Murray 'You Be The Judge' McEwen
I have been avidly following Blues music since I was a teenager! I feel privileged to have matured in the 60's and 70's and to have been able to appreciate so much of the blues music that was released over those two seminal decades.
My first introduction to the Blues came one Sunday afternoon here in New Plymouth as a teen when a friend played me some tracks by John Mayall, Taj Mahal, B.B. King and more. There was no turning back. Seeing Muddy Waters in concert in New Zealand in the early seventies was also a highlight.
I subscribe to "Living Blues" and "Juke Blues" magazines and also follow "Blues Revue".
My first 'solo' show on The Most was broadcast on Sunday 1 March, 2009. I try to feature some of the pioneers of the blues on my show - music from the 20's and 30's, but am also keen to try anything modern from LA to Texas, New Orleans to Kansas City, Memphis to Chicago and all places in between.
My host nickname is "You Be The Judge" because I present a range of blues and prefer to let the listener decide what they like.
